Les Arts Turcs privacy statement

Your privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to us. Because we gather certain types of information about the visitors to the Les Arts Turcs website, we feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather, how we use it, and how to correct or change it.

1. Information Les Arts Turcs gathers and tracks

Les Arts Turcs gathers two types of information about users: data that users provide through optional, voluntary submission on our website; and data gathered through tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our sites. Such information enables us improve our web site in a way that would benefit the majority of our visitors.

Les Arts Turcs gathers user information in the following processes:

Occasionally Les Arts Turcs offers polls to users so they can easily share their opinions with other users and see what the Les Arts Turcs audience thinks about various issues. Les Arts Turcs uses a system to "tag" users after they have voted, so they can vote only once on a particular question. This tag is not correlated with information about individual users.

Message boards/forums

Users of the Les Arts Turcs Message Boards must submit their name and email in order to post messages, although they needn't do so just to view the posts.

Electronic newsletters

Les Arts Turcs offers a free electronic newsletter to users. Les Arts Turcs gathers the email addresses of users who voluntarily subscribe. Users may remove themselves from this mailing list by sending us an email requesting to off the newsletter subscription list.

"Send this story to a friend" service

A reader can choose to electronically forward a news story to someone else by clicking the link at the top of that story. The user must provide their email address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only in the case of transmission errors and, of course, to let the recipient know who sent the story. The information is not used for any other purpose.

Occasionally Les Arts Turcs conducts user surveys to better target our content to our audience. We sometimes share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with our advertisers and partners. We never share any of this information about specific individuals with any third party.

Usage tracking

Les Arts Turcs tracks user traffic patterns throughout all of our sites. However, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. Les Arts Turcs does break down overall usage statistics according to a user's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser).

Les Arts Turcs sometimes tracks and catalogs the search terms that users enter in the search page, but this tracking is never associated with individual users.

But the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. Les Arts Turcs uses cookies to track repeat visitors to the forum message boards.

If you've set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie.

You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use any Les Arts Turcs page, and the forum will function adequately without them.

Web store orders

Orders for products sold from our online store/gallery require the collection of information pertinent to follow-through with the sale, shipment, and after-sale support of our products. The required information includes select personal information, billing and shipping address information, and credit card billing information. We also collect the usual traffic and product interest patterns of our visitors, to allow us to better refine our product offerings.

2. Use of the information

Les Arts Turcs uses any information voluntarily given by our visitors to better prepare future content based on the interests of our visitors.

As stated above, Les Arts Turcs uses information that users voluntarily provide in order to send out electronic newsletters and to enable users to participate in polls, message boards, and online shopping. We send out newsletters to subscribers on an irregular schedule (usually biweekly or monthly), and occasionally send out special editions when we think subscribers might be particularly interested in something we are doing. Les Arts Turcs never shares newsletter mailing lists with any third parties, including advertisers or partners. When we use tracking information to determine which areas of our website users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. Les Arts Turcs does not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for you. We track search terms entered in our search pages as one of many measures of what interests our users. But we don't track which terms a particular user enters.

3. Sharing of the information

Les Arts Turcs uses the above-described information to tailor our content to suit your needs and help our advertisers better understand our audience's demographics.
